It started as the desire to complete just one 10K to say I did it. A few weeks into my training, a relationship came to an end and I lost my job. Those training runs quickly became my best friends as I sorted through the losses and uncertainty. Now, more than 4 years, training for 5 half marathons, and one knee surgery later, the challenges I have taken on in running have helped me understand that I can take on, and conquer, whatever lies in my path ahead.

Training Again

I've been gone a while haven't I? I'm finally back to a training schedule and my weekly mileage has crossed into double digits. Last Saturday, I did my 2nd 5K of the spring. My time was really slow because of the crowd and because I chose to run and visit with a volunteer running for our organization. It was more about the cause (Susan G. Komen for the Cure) than time anyway.

Here's proof I did it - and proof I've gotten plenty flabby in the past several months.

Oh and that's not my volunteer - this was the last 1/2 mile when she stopped to walk and I tried to pick up the pace.

I am so happy you have been able to amp your mileage a bit, and get to a regular training schedule. That is wonderful news. The Komen is always about the cause. I would be schocked if somebody PR's LOL! Glad you are BACK!

PS
Thorny, you are supah cute! I had no idea what you looked like.

To spot you I kinda went by finding the thinest one on the group :-)

Alb, I can't believe I didn't get your picture again! So far dropping and breaking the work camera hasn't gotten me fired.
